Welcome to Sanderson-Moore Funeral Home Inc. Beginning in 1829, six generations of Sandersons have provided funeral services in Seneca Falls. After 175 years of servicing the community, Sanderson-Moore Funeral Home Inc continues its good name and reputable business with Duane D Moore as President.
In 1827 James Sanderson came to the area from New Jersey and eventually settled here with his family in May of 1829. These were the days when the dead were laid in wood coffins made to order at the Cabinet Shop. The service moved and expanded in 1875 under the name of Sanderson & Bros. Furniture and Undertaking, which was burned out when a sweeping fire struck part of the downtown area of Seneca Falls. In 1891, the funeral home was constructed at 32 State Street. Additions modernized the structure in 1897, 1958 and 1985. The Sandersons are a part of the history of Seneca Falls, providing an essential service for the community. The funeral home was renamed in October 2001 when its current president Duane Moore was hand selected by the Sanderon's to continue their long tradition of excellence. Sanderson-Moore Funeral Home Inc. became the oldest incorporated business in Seneca County.
